Screws – information

Screws are elements of threaded joints, finding a very wide application in the world. They are used on various types of construction sites, such as bridges, buildings, steel structures, as well as for connecting individual elements, heavy production machines. Screws consist of a shank, head and end and may differ in each of the above-mentioned elements.

Among other things, you can stumble upon Screws with a hexagonal head, mushroom head, countersunk head with a square neck and cylindrical head. Of course, there are many more types of bolts, e.g. the hexagonal socket bolt, which are frequently used mainly in places where there is limited access from a side. An additional advantage of such bolts is the diameter of the head, which is only slightly larger than the diameter of the thread. A hexagonal socket bolt is successfully used, for example, in the furniture industry, where it is used to connect individual pieces of furniture. Due to the characteristics of this bolt, to loosen or tighten it, we must use a special key, known as a hex key, commonly referred to as an Allen key.

It is worth mentioning that the bolt system itself was known from ancient times, where Archimedes himself invented the first bolt that was successfully used for filling irrigation channels with water. His invention was so simple and so effective that it is still used today in the Netherlands to drain areas below sea level. Currently, manufacturers are outdoing each other in technical innovations that result in new and better uses in many areas of our lives. One may even say that our civilization was even built on a bolt, because it is hard to imagine its functioning without this simple invention.
